Janice Antoniette V. Förster is an assistant professor at the College of Computer Studies in Silliman University, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. It is in this campus by the sea sprawling 610,000 square meters with giant acacia trees that she earned her degree in BS Business Computer Applications and Master in Business Administration.
Never stopping to learn some more, she further went to earn her Diploma in Computer Science from the University of the Philippines Open University and is currently a candidate for the degree in Master in Information Technology from the University of San Jose Recoletos – Cebu.
In her many years of teaching, she had already authored a number of research works, talked in local and international conferences, facilitated in many different computer-related trainings and had made computer applications and programs on the side – including, but not limited to being a computer programmer and consultant in a bank and designing a computerized system for a pharmacy.
All of these made her assume leadership in a group, built her confidence and self-esteem and made her learn how to break down social and cultural barriers. For her, the most fulfilling part of these is having developed her pleasure of sharing, inspiring, motivating and helping people to discover themselves and provide assistance.
Coming from a family of business-minded people, she never needed her degree in business administration for business opportunities to come naturally. She approaches any source of income without hesitation and finds joy in knowing her capabilities more than its financial rewards.
She has tried marketing goods, networking schemes, and graphics designing. But among all these and perhaps dictated by her passion in teaching is her equal passion of being a freelance writer. At the end of the day back in her home, she transforms into a wife and mother of two kids who enjoys cooking, music, biking, reading, doing photography, traveling and nature.
